Feathering a 22 trigger

I have a Browning lever action 22 that the trigger is hard to trip. The picture is of the hammer release, the hook is very sharp. Will rounding out this point make the trigger pull easier?

(Sorry if I'm using incorrect terminology)

It is called "lightening" the trigger pull.

If you have to ask, you probably should not do it. But, if you are going to do it anyway, what should be done is to use a hard, natural (not carborundum) stone to polish the engaging surface without changing the geometry. Now, if you do not understand what I just said, or do not have the skill to do it, you should take it to a gunsmith instead of working on it yourself.

If you "round" the engaging surface, it will not be reliable or safe anymore.

I polished it and used silicone lube and it didn't make much difference.

Thanks for you concern on my intelligence level, don't be.

I would like a light or hair trigger. I would prefer a light trigger.

Shorting the hook will make it more of a hair trigger, correct?

Changing the hook angle would make it more of a light trigger, correct.

Lance: The sear surfaces (sear & hammer notch) must be square to each other. If not either the trigger will be heavier or will not hold depending on the angle. Its not something to be done free hand, there are jigs made for this purpose and should be used. Shortening the sear "hook" will not make it a lighter trigger.

That's correct. Shortening a sear hook can address creep some, rather than pull weight, though it sacrifices safety. With the right tools you can get a crisp trigger without shortening the hooks. If the machining was rough enough to make the tip of the hook ragged an extremely slight chamfer may be used to clean that edge. I am talking three to five thousandths at most. If you are new to gunsmithing, once you start monkeying with the trigger engagement surfaces, you want to be sure you have a source of replacement parts. Expect to go through a few in the learning process.
