The FBI is gearing up to create a massive computer database of people's physical characteristics, all part of an effort the bureau says to better identify criminals and terrorists.

The FBI wants to use eye scans, combined with other data, to help identify suspects.

1 of 3 But it's an issue that raises major privacy concerns -- what one civil liberties expert says should concern all Americans.

The bureau is expected to announce in coming days the awarding of a $1 billion, 10-year contract to help create the database that will compile an array of biometric information -- from palm prints to eye scans.

I think this raises the question, how much power are we going to keep giving our government to feel safe? Is there anyway to stop the erosion of our privacy?

Oh we'll keep trading liberty for security until the Constitution isn't worth its weight in toilet paper. Did you see this one? The next taxpayer funded episode of TSA's Security Theater. As if rude and incompetent TSA workers weren't bad enough, now they get to oogle and laugh at naked images of you and your wife/girlfriend/significant other. Makes you wonder how long until the body scans by TSA are merged with the FBI's biometric databases.
