Problem: 5'10" 140 lbs. Dress Slacks Shirt and tie most days no coat. Kimber Compact steel 34 oz. 7.7" length.

What is your favorite CCW holster? What would you recommend for the above problem?

Thanks,
Bill Daniel

Hi Bill,
The only way you're going to carry your Kimber Compact concealed without a coat is with a workman type holster. If you are willing to cover your pistol's grip with a coat or other clothing, our favorite IWB in our experience has been the KyTac Braveheart. With your size and build, you may want to consider a smaller handgun considering your dressing habits. While we don't advocate it as a first choice for carry, pocket carry can be accomplished safely and successfully with a good gun/pocket holster combo. Look to the P9 from Kahr as a possibility.

With no cover garment their are three choices that come to mind. One would be a tuckable style holster. With the size of the gun you are talking about though comfort is porbably going to be poor.

Two is off body carry. The Day Planner style would match your daily dress.

Three is a belly band. These can be uncomfortable but do serve a purpose and work when nothing else will. I have known some who turn the band so the gun is worn behind the back and similar to where you would wear an IWB.

I've had very good use out of the Ky-tac Braveheart. But if you're looking for something with no cover garment I would look into a Rosen "Workman" I have one built for a Kahr K9 and it hides it well in a tucked button down shirt.

I'm 5'7 about 167 pounds and if you have the same color belt as the belt loop it isn't obvious anything is there.
