Family of Federal Judge murdered.

The husband and mother of US Judge Joan Lefkow were slain in an execution style murder today.

This, in and of itself, is a bad thing, but I am interested in a sub-part of the investigation.

Judge Lefkow was the presiding judge in a trademark-infringment lawsuit involving the World Church of the Creator and it's founder, Matt Hale. For those of you not familiar with Matt Hale, he's a big proponent of what he calls "racial holy war".

During the whole thing, Matt Hale wound up in being found guilty of soliciting the murder of the judge.

Now here's the kicker, and where my interest piques: apparently at least one Internet Forum frequented by white supremacists wound up with a thread wanting pictures of the judge, her husband and their children. Such photos were posted, and further along in the course of the thread personal information of the judge and her family were discovered and posted to the thread.

Might be some interesting - scary - ramifications for Internet forum Administration and Staff coming out of this one. Probably one to keep an eye on.

I apologize in advance here..

Law Dog, whenever I see something like this coming out of Chicago, a small very sarcastic part of me almost blurts out loud something like: "Gee, I thought something like this couldn't happen there--they have all those TOUGH GUN LAWS.."

Then I straighten up and realize a couple of innocent, apparently somewhat defenseless people got murdered in cold blood. :mad: That ain't funny.

On things like this, unlike the anti's when they wallow in the blood of innocents, I cannot.

Like Brian, I also have that little "gee, with all the gun laws and bans in this city then..." in the back of my head.

And with her being a Judge, I have to ask myself, how many innocent people that used guns or had them in Chicago did she sentence because of said gun laws?

I don't know where she is on guns or gun control but if she was in agreement with daily (daly?) then she was part of the problem, not allowing her own or the people in that city to be able to protect themselves from this. I too would and am upset about what happened, as I am with any murder or abduction. Yet, what role did she play that allowed this to happen? She worked in a city that has a mayor that upholds the no right to life laws (ie self defense).

I don't know if I am putting forth my thoughts correctly. In no way am I condemning the Judge or saying that the family was at fault in any way. What I am trying to say is that I believe that the gun laws of Chicago helped to kill these people, and not knowing what the Judge thought about guns or gun control, may or may not have been actually somewhat responsible for her family not being able to protect themselves.

Guns may be used in evil, but most of the guns that are used are used in good. To take away the greatest equalizer on earth just allows these things to happen.

I agree. No blood dancing.

Besides, as a federal judge she probably could have gotten around that law if she wanted. Chicago aldermen carry unregistered handguns as "peace officers" under state law, and their connection is a lot more tenuous than hers would be.
 
This is definitely an interesting story be curious to find out who actually murdered the judges husband and mother. Especially with a judge putting an end to capital punishment for crimes committed by minors only the day before. Be something if whoever did this hanus crime turns out to be a under the age of 18 and how the judge reacts ie. will she want them put to death or will she be appeased by simply incarcerating them for the rest of their lives. It is always interesting how people will feel one way about something until it happens to them and then all of a sudden they realize things are different when the shoe is on the other foot.

Bart Ross shot himself in the head as police approached his van during a routine traffic stop in Wisconsin.

A suicide note left in the vehicle claimed responsibility for the Chicago murders.

It seems that the link to white supremecists isn't there. Not that I'd mind seeing a few racists get their comeuppance in court.
 
Yeah, this guy was P.O.'ed because the judge threw out his med mal lawsuit, where he was representing himself. That judge seems to make more enemies than most....
 
This guy was the subject of a "routine traffic stop" in Wisconsin, and as soon as he is pulled over he decides to whack himself - but has time to write a "suicide note" that includes a "confession to clear up a murder in Chicago"?

Now why would someone - who had commited a murder, were pulled over on the road, thought they were being "picked up for their crime", and decided to blow their brains out before they were "caught" - take the trouble and effort to write a "suicide note" with a "confession"?
 
They matched DNA samples from the crime scene.Now that the details are coming out , this guy was a timebomb waiting to go off!!
 
First freedom, now you have another case ,the murder of a judge and two others in Atlanta,where you can cry -police brutality and conspiracy !
 
So mete, can you tell us whether DNA testing can be performed in under 2 days or not, or are you just wasting people's time and bandwidth?
 
Yep, murders are often the results of the motives and efforts or two or more people. They are also often written off as other things. Vince Foster, Caity Mahoney, Carlos Ghigliotti, Cliff Baxter and others come to mind. Unless you believe the party line of course.

In this case, why would someone go through the effort and risk to murder a Federal Judge - and kill someone else instead? Perhaps the target was her husband from the beginning.
