FAL clone problems

Hi all,

Have a FAL clone that has a non-adjusting rear sight. Elevation moves fine, but the rifle shoots to the left. Have removed the twin screws that appear to adjust the windage. The sight does not move when lightly tapped. Am I overlooking a third screw? I have soaked the sight in WD-40 and am planning to use a bigger hammer.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Gizmo,
The rear sights of a FAL are a Push/Pull kind of arangement.
To move the sight in one directon you loosen the screw to the side you wish to move it to. Then tighten the screw on the opposite side, pushing the sight in the direction you want to go.

So to move to the right you loosen the right screw and tighten the left, the opposite is true to move to the left.

The screws also have "clicks" that if I recall correctly are each .25 MOA (1/4 of an inch of movement on a target at 100 meters). So to move one inch to the right you loosen the right screw 4 clicks and tighten the left screw the same number of clicks. Once Sighted in you tighten both screws up, locking the sight.

On Battle sights you also move the rear sights in the direction you want to move, I.E: if your shooting to the left and need to move to the right you move the sights to the right.

If I'm wrong, somone please correct me, at 0730, on the down side of my regular graveyard shift, the world is a bit fuzzy :)

Use the big hammer! I had the same problem with my Century and it was just stuck. I removed both screws and used WD40 and then pounded. It eventually loosed up.
