Hey, just finished my build of the FAL 9mm!!!!! 16inch barrel 30 round mags. Works great! Smooth operation no recoil. I still need to put the eotech on it an sight it in.. I will have pics latter . Need to do a little duracoat touch up on it!
 
A quick GOOGLE search reveled the Masterpiece Arms model MPA971 9mm carbine. Looks like it uses an FAL lower, a 9mm upper and a 71 round 9mm drum magazine.

Perhaps that's what new_scopeshooter is referring to (??)

I bought the parts kit a the local gun show. Its a D.C INDUSTRIES FA-FAL 9mm upper. It was a complete conversion kit. The barrel was 20 inches long. I cut it down to 16 and added the break. It uses a A.R.M.S dust cover with a pin attached to it that the recoil spring rides on to opperate the bolt. All parts were already parked so I scratch padded them with a red scotch brite pad. Heated the meta to 120 degrees useing a heat lamp. I sprayed the gun with duracoat tactical black. Wheni was puting it togeather I scratched a few small places. I noticed that it no longer uses the same gas operating system that a FAL uses. There is just a tube that has a threaded block off plate at the end
 
yes!!!!!!!!!!!! it is a good shooter! feeds great. no misfires... it is holding a 4 inc group at 50 yards of a rest with open sights... i have not put the eotech on it yet... i am confident that when i do the group will get smaller....
 
I like when someone makes something do something abnormal because they can. Pretty neat. I wouldn't call it practical but it is cool.
