Failure to fire,etc.

Hey, you 1911 pros,I need some help.I have a three year old SA TRP that's giving me fits. With 230 grain ammo such as Hydrashock,S&B,and hardball reloads,I experience a failure to feed on the 4th or 5th round usually. The nose of the cartridge appears to have impacted the feed ramp.I'm using 8 rd Wilson Rogers mags that have been well maintained and which function flawlessly in my Wilson CQB and Para 7.45 LDA.These in fact are the mags which came with the pistol.
The recoil spring is the original factory 16 pounder and the pistol has under 1000 rounds shot through it.
The TRP does another curious thing.Often ,the last round in the magazine fires, but instead of being properly ejected,it ends up stuck ass backwards in the ejection port with the case mouth actually stuck on the back rim of the ejection port, which in this model is so sharp that it actually notches the case mouth.

To clear this jam,I have to release the mag, activate the slide stop and work the case free. This event can happen with factory ammo or reloads. Some homemade copper 185 SWCs seem to function perfectly with none of the above.I'm thinking I need an 18.5 lb Wolf recoil spring. What do all you fellow(and more experienced)1911 afficionados think I should do??? HELP !

Good Luck and let us know the outcome...

...ps...I would try a new variable-rate 16-18.5lb recoil spring...If you shoot more of the 185s try the 16. If 230...try the 18.5...Generally I change all the springs at the same time and keep a log of everything I change so that I can return the pistol to its' last functioning state if I want. Dave is the man and you'll be glad after you contact him...
