CCW law did not cause crime to go down.
When the
"shoot carjackers on sight, no questions asked" law was passed in Florida, the carjacking declined dramatically!!!
When Florida became the first state to recognize the "right to carry" the crime rate went down an estimated 31%!!!!
That's why the other 30 some-odd "Right to Carry" states adopted a similar law!!
If the crime rate was already down in Texas or elsewhere, then the effect would naturally not manifest itself as clearly...
But to say "right to carry" didn't make a significant contribution???
I think that contribution is far greater than we might be led to believe...
It stands to reason that a criminal who knows you are armed, will try to rob someone else!!
If he thinks you can kill him, he will disappear into the woodwork with the rest of the cockroaches...
Make no mistake, whether the CWP's reduce crime,
or contain it... they make a significant contribution to less crime...
As for New York... Bernard Guetz fought back... and ask the New York Police what that did to New York crime rates for the six months following. Especially
Subway crime!!
