Factory nickle finish on 226 Sig

Hello Boys!!!

I've got a Sig 226 in 9mm with a factory nickle finish. Everything, including the levers, controls, slide, frame (everything but the grips) is nickle. I'm wondering how rare this pistol is and what its estimated value would be. Yes, I'm sure the nickle finish was applied by Sig. It came that way. Please be good boys and let me know. Your sweet!!!!

I have no idea what it's worth.

Reading the profile for your screen name is priceless however.

Greeting's nipples and Welcome To TFL-

Wow! Factory suggested retail price on
the nickel P226 would run in the $900+
range; but in reality, i've seen a few
at gunshow's and on dealer's shelve's
priced at $795.00. While extremely rare,
the P226 two-tone is a more desirable
piece; as a "working person's" gun.
With all due respect, in today's society
all us LEO type's frown on "nickel plated
sissy pistol's"; cuz they draw too much
attention from John Q. Citizen.

However, you own one of the finest combat
pistol's ever made. In use by many militaries
world-wide. With a little TLC, you should
get great service from a quality piece.

Add $70 for electroless nickel finish to below prices:

MSRP - $851
100% - $740
98% - $610
95% - $540

I've got one I found in a pawn shop 3 years ago, unfired in original box, with 1 factory std cap mag and one Meg-gar std cap mag., I believe I paid in the neighborhood of $600. I think it was made in the early 90's.

It's a great shooter, I've added a set of Hogue Pao Fero grips (checkered, wood is a deep sable brown). I think it's quite handsome, but it is a bit on the 'flashy' side for discrete CCW, so It's mostly a range & HD gun.

Enjoy

from what i'm reading, it seems that we're using "nickel" and "electroless nickel" interchangably.

when sig first brought in their nickeled 226, they were their regular nickel over a base coat (copper?). they had some problems with peeling (cleaned with hoppes?) and changed to an electroless nickel finish. the guns were imported "in the white" and finished in texas at T & T technologies

the original gun have a "yellow cast" to them while the ones done in texas are more "white"

thanks for the great info!!!!

My nickled P226 does have the "yellow cast" to it. I guess I can expect it to peel if I ever clean it with Hoppes. But since I just fondle my guns, I have nothing to worry about.

Naw nipples-

You need to play with that Sig; Oh! I mean
shoot it, not just fondle it.
