Factory LOP on 870

I am working on a HD shotgun for someone. The standard LOP is too long for them. I am looking at purchasing a shorter stock.

Does anyone know what the factory LOP on an 870 is? I am assuming it is the same for the Express, Wingmaster and Police Magnum.

How is LOP measured to confirm factory specs?

LOP is measured from the middle of the trigger face to the middle of the recoil pad or butt plate. Have you tried a youth stock???? They are shorter and would be easier to install instead of cutting the original and refitting a recoil pad...... just a thought.............

I don't have it with me - but the Remington website will tell you - but my hunch is it is about 14 1/4" - like most pump field grade guns on a 12ga.

Changing recoil pads, etc can change it easily up to 3/8 or 1/2" - and that is probably the way to go.
