Facing a handgun... Least and Most?

Onslaught

My response to another thread gave me a small revelation, and I thought I'd see what everyone else thought.

Now I know that we all hope this NEVER happens to us, but hypothetically, lets consider this scenario:

You come home from work, and you do have your favorite CCW with you. You step out of your car, and from around the (corner, bushes, gate, whatever) comes a man with a ski-mask and a pistol. There's 10 - 15 yards between you, and you are fortunately still in a position to take cover behind the front of your car.

What pistol would you most hope that the BG has?
What pistol would you most hope the BG does NOT have?

For me, it's:

Hope he has an AMT DAO Backup :D
The trigger pull, lack of reliability, harsh recoil, etc. all work in my favor.

Hope he doesn't have a Glock
No, I don't own one, and there are PLENTY of other super-reliable guns out there, but the the dependability and accuracy coupled with the short, light trigger pull and potential to have 15 - 17 rounds in the mag would make for a well armed opponent.

Please don't take offense. It's just for fun, and anybody who owns an AMT, and knows it is reliable, and practices with it, etc. is just as well armed as me with my Kahr. BG's just aren't known for practicing.

I'd hope he has any short barrelled .22 or .25. Granted, I own a PSP-25, but I was thinking more along the lines of a Jennings or something. They jam a lot, and the round won't do too much damage. Also, with the small barrel and mediocre sights, they are not very accurate.

Though after giving it some thought, I'd go with the .22 short NAA mini-revolver (I think they make that, right)? Very little power, short sight radius, short barrel, and you have to cock the gun each time.

I'd most hope he didn't have any medium to full sized gun in 9mm or .38 special or above. I wouldn't be more scared of an HK versus a Sig.

Ok, I'll play.

I'm assuming play guns and pellet guns are out so I would rather he had an NAA mini-revolver. I like the little things and shoot mine fairly well, but under pressure they will rarely hit within 4 feet of what you thought you were aiming at! And even if he hit me I would have a better than average chance of not getting seriously hurt.

I would rather he didn't have any kind of serious revolver. You know it's going to go bang and if he hits you it's gonna hurt! I would also agree with the Glock ... or a Sig or a Ruger or a CZ or a Mak or ....

I don't think the number of shots he has would enter into my choice. If he hits you - one is enough; if he doesn't - well, fire away!

Gee Mike, that was FAST! I figured water pistol would come up, along with paintball, nerf, etc... but FIRST! I also kinda expected it would be Blades67 ;)

Oh, I don't think any less of an HK or Sig, or EAA or Walther or Taurus etc... I just wanted to be specific.

Remember, this was just for fun!

Hope he's got a Lorcin 22lr and he hasn't chambered a round ;) Plus, I'd hope he's drunk or stoned enough to not hear my rotty coming to bite his neck off :D

Hope he doesn't have anything that works properly & he's had practice w/ it. :(

I hope he has a Jennings... the damn thing is more likely to injure him when he fires it then me :)

I hope I have my Steyr M40 ... as much as I'm sure I'll dig my Mak (which should be here in a few days) I still think I'd rather throw a few 135gr JHP's at 1200fps then the little 9mm M's in the Mak ;)

Actualy I hope I'm carrying a Heckler & Koch MP5/40 so I could send him many many more of those .40s the the Steyr (yeah, I know, not quite a CCW weapon ... but I could get a trench coat if I had to ;) )

One of three senerios:
1. Any gun that he handloads the ammo for and forgot the charge.

2. An H&K VSP 70 (Veeeeeery Loooong trigger pull)

3. A full auto 9mm and very little experience shooting it.

In any case I'd like to have my Glock 36 and double tap him.

I would hope the BG has an old Dreyse that's outdated,
obsolete, etc. I would also hope he didn't have a
magazine for it as well. I believe I could survive,
if he only had one bullet; which it would be very
doubtful that he had that.:) :D

I would not want the BG to have a quality double
action revolver; or a semi-auto from the major player's,
such as Glock/Sig/H&K/Beretta/Walther/ and other's.

The Sig 220 .45ACP weapon would be a great choice provided you could keep it in a CLP impregnated zip-lock bag while en route to the mission to prevent rust.

What pistol the bad guy has? -- .25 ACP Saturday Night Special type

My pistol? -- Anything 9mm and over from a good manufacture.

I hope they have a junk mouse gun and that I have my 1911.

I'd settle for any quality pistol chambered in something 9x19 or larger in a pinch.

Hey Will,

You're right on with the Sig P220 ole' buddy; but I
keep mine spic and span with Break Free CLP.:D :)
Goof stuff!

I hope the BG has an ACCUTEK BL9....I wont even have to have a gun. BAHAHAHAHA

Whatever he has, I want something bigger, faster and less filling.
