f-Class cartridges...

Hello all,
Am looking forward to building my first rifle, and am also looking forward to enhancing my long distant shooting abilities.

Looking at F-Class.

Was originally thinking of building a 280AI
Today I heard about the 284 Shehane.

I really wanted to stick to the 280/7mm bullets.
Are there other 7mm/284 cartridges you might recommend?
I'm a handloader, so wildcats are not an issue,(may actually be a plus for me:D)

Thanks

For a handloader, the only negative with the Shehane that I can think of would be the rebated rim and the associated feeding issues. Can' really say that would be a serious issue, though.

The Shehane is a .284 Improved, 100-150 fps faster than plain .284 Win.
Rebated head feeding is not a factor in F class, the rifles are single shots.
My F-T/R .308 doesn't even have an ejector.

A guy here had a 7mm WSM and a 7mm x .270 WSM.
More powder, more velocity, less wind, less barrel life.
I don't know what he is shooting this season.

Nothing wrong with the 284 Win case in any configuration or caliber. It has compromises like all the others have. Accuracy of all cartridges used in F-class is about the same. Larger cartridges with heavier bullets are harder to shoot accurately with rifles hand-held against ones shoulder.
