I finally got a chance to shoot my new USP45 compact yesterday, and I'm thrilled with it. Recoil is very minimal, and the gun is accurate and controllable. Easier to shoot than my beretta 96. I just need to get used to that mag release.
 
Congrats on your purchase. I use my other hand to activate mag release. I heard it is almost impossible to do it with your shooting hand.
 
Try using your trigger (index) finger, pressing down with your finger tip. It works pretty well for me YMMV.

Ditto on the USP40C.

The only way I can really get on the release is to use my trigger finger as well. In a normal grip my thumb won't even touch the mag release on the left side of the frame without cranking the pistol around.

Well Dang! Now we've gone and found something wrong with what I'd been thinking was the perfect defensive pistol. Shoot!
