Extract This?

Anybody having problems with extracting spent shells from their 6 or 10 shot model 617's? I hear on the rumor mill some folks are sending them back to the factory to have the chambers polished because they are tired of punching holes in their palms with the extractor rod trying to get the damn spent shells out of the chambers. Even some of the M17s and M18s have had tight chambers that needed polishing. You can send it to the factory or search around for a local gunsmith who may do it for you.

yes - my now departed 10 shot 617 had very difficult to extract chambers until I lapped them. (FWIW, I used toothpaste on a rag wrapped around a bronze brush).

I've said it before - newer Smith and Wessons are no longer finished products. They require small finishing now that used to be done by the factory.

CNC = lower overall quality.

Want a true finished Smith? Get one made prior to the "cookie cutter" process.
