about a year ago i got a great deal on a blued ruger service six, i still have it and carry it daily as my ccw. i bought when funds allowed extra parts, i now have every extra part for the gun except the trigger and hammer. do these ever fail under normal use? reason i'm asking a friend of mine is parting out his gun and he will let me have them both for $30 which includes the trigger guard with pawl and transfer bar. will the trigger guard just fit on mine without gunsmithing? his blued guard is almost 100% good bluing and mine is about 50%. thanks for any help

Why so many parts for a firearm that's made solid? Do you shoot that much and rough up your firearm. Parts are available as and if needed.

if I had extra cash lying around, I could see the value in having al the extra parts, would be pretty cool knowing that my gun will literally last a lifetime. it would be very hard to break a hammer, very hard. maybe the trigger could get loose on the pin after tens of thousands of rounds, but I doubt you would wear the trigger before the barrel

If his bluing rates near 100% and yours near 50%... what about buying the whole revolver and keeping yours for spare parts to it? :D
Of course I'm teasing but it is a thought!

Honestly I don't know if any fitting would be required but I do know that my hammers will interchange on a couple of Ruger Sp 101s that I have without an issue. For $30 it may be worth trying.

$30 are a good deal. I have much more money tied up in gun parts, magazines and grips than many people have in their entire gun collection.

Better have it and not need it, than needing it and not having it. If you look at gun part prices, you will realize that you will make an excellent investment there.
