Extended chokes?

I've got a Benelli Super 90 with the 18.5" barrel that has been surprisingly effective for trap/skeet using a modified choke. I like the way it handles quickly.

I'm wondering if an extended choke would help improve performance further. I've heard some things about how the extra 1" or so seems to stabilize the pattern after the pellets have gone through the area of constriction. Sounds like some people also like to use these chokes to protect their barrels.
Any experience with these chokes?

I'm looking at the Briley's, which seem to have a good reputation. Will probably get black oxide X2's in full cylinder (HD), IC, and modified.

Thanks!

The extended chokes will give you a better pattern.
When shot gets to the muzzle, it is forced together in a clump. The more gently this happens, the less deformity there is in the shot.
The extended choke allow an extra inch for this to happen. The shot isn't slammed together as quickly, hense less deformity.
Less deformity usually means a better pattern.
Will it make a difference?
For trap, yes. If you get on your bird quickly, as I assume you do, since you mention quick handling, probably not. If you wait until the bird is at the zenith, then probaby so. If you ever shoot doubles, then it definately will.
I have shot trap with a riot gun and have done well enough, but I shot better using a gun designed specifically for trap.
I don't think extended chokes will help for skeet.
I do think they look good on the gun. I have them on mine for just that reason. They did not help my scores at all.
