Hey everyone, I'm new to this thread and posting in threads. I just purchased an Explore optics 4x32 E Cone rifle scope. It's basically an ACOG clone. I've been in the military for several years and am still in, and I have used every scope and sight the military has to offer. I will not be sharing any specifics about my job, but it has allowed me the opportunity to become familiar with many different weapon systems and their accessories. I will be doing a review on this scope and comparing it to the ACOG, which is one of my favorite weapon sights. Explore is a newer company, and in no way am I affiliated with them, but I have never been disappointed with their products. Once I finish testing I will put my review up. Feel free to ask any questions.

The guys on Sniper's Hide seem to think Explore makes decent optics. Of course, they're looking at the bigger scopes with AO and larger objectives.

Explore is actually a US company. I have a few of their optics, and I don't think they are Chinese. I think I'm going to give them a call and see where they make their scopes and get their parts from. EOTech is one of the only companies that use glass made in the states. I will say that the glass that Explore uses is easily as clear as my Leupold scopes, and the ACOG type is actually a little more clear than my real ACOG. By the way their website does not have the sight that I'm reviewing up. From what I've been told it is brand new, and the one I have was probably built less than a month ago. It looks exactly like the standard ACOG with no fiber optic on top for the Illuminated chevron. I will be sure to post several pictures.

From there website:

Big Bore riflescopes are produced using the highest quality components and assembled under a strict clean room environment assuring you years of reliable service and use. Big Bore riflescopes are assembled and fine tuned One by One in our China facility

Please don't think I am trying to rain on your parade I was just pointing out according to there website they are made in China and seem a little high.

I have a real ACOG on my AR and it is a great sight, if I can find another one similar for 1/4 the price that was 1/2 as good I would jump on it.

Thank you very much for serving I owe my freedom to guys like you!:)

Hey no worries, sorry if it seemed like I was offended. That would make sense though, because Chinese labor is so inexpensive. I have used and destroyed many an ACOG, thankfully all of them were not mine personally, so the government paid for them :). They are excellent sights. I was very surprised when I found this one. I think because the weather sucks where I am I will do an initial review with pics and what i think about the sight before I shoot with it. And I love my job, I'm thankful to have the opportunity to serve for our country. So thank you.

As you can see this sight looks just like the ACOG. It has a back up iron sight on the top like some of the ACOG's do. I would imagine that you can use accessories intended for ACOG's for this sight, as it is nearly identical.

The glass is extremely clear, like you would expect with any high grade optic.

It has 1/4 minute adjustments, rather than the 1/3 minute adjustments on the ACOG.

Mounting is identical to the ACOG as well, and the mount is very sturdy.

The bottom of the mount can be removed. There are two screws on the underside of the mount, and you can remove the bottom so that you can mount the scope on the carry handle of an AR style rifle.

I love Trijicon and would absolutely love an ACOG or multiple ACOGs and shoot, even love their other stuff like AccuPoints/RMR/Reflex/et al.

The problem is they are THE MOST EXPENSIVE there is out there, and its not remotely close. And so 'clones' etc aren't even close in qual sometimes.

Just like "Aimpoint" clones don't last for a month on the battery, let alone 5 years, ACOG clones generally don't have even fiber optic let alone tritium so what's the point, it's just another 4x scope?

There is a company out there, I can't think of the name, that is making an EXaCT replica of the ACOG 4x32 , I trhink the guy was actually an employee or something. The thing is, there are still ike $1-$1500+ so why bother buying one? if you could get a 4x32mm ACOG style scope, with fiber optics and tritium, (even without reticle choices and colors, like, they could have ONE setup), and if you could get it for $500 or less of course, it would immediately become the best selling thing on the civilian market for ARs etc. But, again, there's nothing close to ACOG really.

please feel free to post examples if im wrong of course, ty.

Most of the ACOG's I've used in the military are the red chevron with the bullet drop compensator and the mil lines to either side. In reality I've used it at night(for military purposes) maybe once or twice. I prefer a laser at night, especially IR. It's extremely difficult to use an ACOG with night vision. I personally like a more traditional reticle over the chevrons. The Explore scope costs about 350, and is easily as nice as far as being solid and the clarity of glass as the actual ACOG. I tend to be hard on my weapons and accessories, so I try to find inexpensive alternates to sights I like, except for EOTech, and my Leupold with the Horus reticle. A Trijicon will break just as easily as this one will. So you have a very valid point, but for me this one is perfect.
