Gang, I am looking at a slightly used Springfield Armory 1911 loaded .45. Stainless gun.

What are your experiences with this gun? Reliable? Accurate? Worth $800?

Thanks.

That is about the price of a new RO Stainless, not a lot less than a new Loaded, but the Loaded Stainless is not readily available.

I would want a thorough test fire and inspection.

I have one that I bought new about 5 years ago. It's been flawless. Having said that, if I'm buying ANYTHING used, I want to try it before purchase or have a guaranteed refund assurance if it doesn't function when I do get a chance to try it.

I had one that was purchased new, had NM-serial prefix and was a flawless, terrific pistol. I sold it to a buddy who still totally loves it.

With that said, I can't see $800 for a used one, in THIS current (general) gun market and more to the point, a market where you can't swing a dead cat without hitting 1911's. Also agree that the Range Officer model just gives far more for the money.

I'm picking up a Springfield 1911 a1 end of this month, in .45, for $600.
Not stainless, black on black with wood (cherry?) Grips, spare set of black probably plastic grips, original packaging and 2 mags. Never fired according to seller and smith, but we all know thats iffy if well cleaned.

If stainless is worth the extra money to you, go for it.

I had a Loaded, stainless 9mm for a while, and a RO .45 for a little longer, and if/when a new RO can be had for $700-$750, wouldn't pay $800 for a used Loaded unless the mileage is low and it came with a bunch of ammo, spare mags or something else that sweetens the deal.
