Uberti, as well as S&W, are now making top break revolvers, copies of either the Schofeld or the #3 Russian. Since shootable originals are way too expensive, and of weak metallurgy, I am intrigued with the reproductions.
I think the #3 Russian is pretty cool looking with that spur off on the trigger guard. The .44 Russian cartridge, being so short, ought to be especially well suited to light loads.
The S&W Schofeld, of course, is a Performance Center version in .45 Schofeld, while the Uberti is a .45 Colt. I was told that Uberti proof tested theirs to 60,000 psi loads - while damage occured, it did stay latched up safely.
I would be intrigued to hear what others have experienced firsthand. A Colt SAA is elegant, but I'd be the first on my block with a #3 Russian
