Experience with Modern Top Break Revolvers?

Uberti, as well as S&W, are now making top break revolvers, copies of either the Schofeld or the #3 Russian. Since shootable originals are way too expensive, and of weak metallurgy, I am intrigued with the reproductions.

I think the #3 Russian is pretty cool looking with that spur off on the trigger guard. The .44 Russian cartridge, being so short, ought to be especially well suited to light loads.

The S&W Schofeld, of course, is a Performance Center version in .45 Schofeld, while the Uberti is a .45 Colt. I was told that Uberti proof tested theirs to 60,000 psi loads - while damage occured, it did stay latched up safely.

I would be intrigued to hear what others have experienced firsthand. A Colt SAA is elegant, but I'd be the first on my block with a #3 Russian :D

Three replicas were made, Smiths, Uberti and the ArmsPort (I think). I've got one of each plus a Navy Arms Uberti Russian.

Don't really like the sights on any of them. Also the Armport (or whatever that brand was) needed some repair work. Actually most were so badly made that Cimarron finally dropped them.

The Uberti and Smiths are ok. Not great but ok. My only real complaint is the very poor sights.
