As cheap as they are, trying one out shouldn't too big of a financial hit.
Having tried BEC products, though, my opinion of their products is that they are not at the bottom of the barrel, they are underneath it. This, however, is a sample of their regular scope products, not red dots. But, IMO, you can't beat first hand experience. Try them out and report back. Who knows? Maybe they have improved in the three years since I last bought a BEC.
