Just checking in to see if anyone has had any experience(s) with the Colt Pocket Nine. Great, good, bad or indifferent...all feedback is appreciated! Have a GREAT Easter TFLrs!! John

Had one, hated it in stock form. If you are going to keep one, consider sending it to Mac at www.colt380.coom for trigger work, if nothing else. It ate my fingers alive...I don't like guns that make me bleed.

Colt Pocket 9? They still make them or did they go the way of the Mustang?

Just curious, I am a total Colt Dolt... never owned one, never really wanted to... but the wife wants a small, single action 9MM.

Had one until about a year ago and agree with JNewell on the needed trigger work. I considered sending it to SMA but didn't want to spend the money on something that wasn't really a "shooter". The Pocket 9 had become more of a collector's item because of being discontinued as part of the Colt shake-up and I don't buy guns to look at them.

Traded it for a KelTec P11...at least I feel OK about doing my own gunsmithing on it (Plus I got the P11 plus cash to spend on other items at the gun show :) ).

I currently own a Pocket 9. As much as I want to like it for being light, small, and a great idea, I've found it very unreliable, even after a break in of a few hundred rounds.

I can't get through a magazine without a failure to feed or a stovepipe. I've tried various magazines (all expensive original Colt mags, as well as aftermarket OEM mags) without improvement. This is with factory ball ammo.

I can put up with the harsh triger that pinches me, but the reliabilty is unacceptable.

My 2 cents.

Gotta say, although I liked the Pocket 9 idea better, in real life, the Kahr MK9 is a much, much better pistol -- only drawback is its greater weight, but that's not entirely bad, either -- handles very well with +P 124s.

The only problem I had was with the extractor - it needed adjusting. The trigger could be better; but what small, DAO, 9mm doesn't have a trigger that could be better. For discrete carry and 9mm I like it.

One other change - I stumbled across a set of English Walnut grips and jumped on those. The original rubber wrap around grips are terrible if you carry it.

Here's a picture with my Mustang Pocketlite (it has been through SM&A's shop :D )
