Expecting our first!

Congrats. In 9 months, life as you know it is OVER!

(snicker)

Best wishes. Too bad you'll never get laid again after the kid is born.

Congratulations Erik!! That is happy news indeed.

And, after you become a father, you will probably find that those 'theoretical' constructs of personal freedom and responsibility all of a sudden assume even greater importance in your life ... for, at that time, you'll really be 'doing it for the children'.

Best wishes to you and your family.

Congrats Erik!

Ditto to what Jeff said...man oh man....the big picture solidifies...gonna be a serious pain in the ass and the most fulfilling thing you can possibly do....and, what kind of world is your babe gonna inherit? Gird it up and fight for the babe's inheritance, for it's self-determination...for its freedom.

Congratulations Erik!

Sleep now cause soon sleep will just be a memory. :D It's all worth it though. Don't let my kid know I said that. ;)

Ditto what Dennis said! :)
Another point about personal freedom....it all sounds so good till you realize it's supposed to apply to you vs. your kid, too! ;)
Have fun!

Erik,

Ignore Dennis! ;) What do you think brings along numbers 2, 3 and 4? :D

Congrats!

Congratulations. You are about to experience some of the most profound moments of your life. Remember them, it is amazing how fast they grow up. Like everyone else said, your life if over, sleep is a memory, gun money is gone, and you will annoy complete strangers with pictures of your wonderful baby. :) Having a baby was one of the best things I ever did.

Congratulations!
Get as much sleep as you can right now. In a few months you will never sleep again. If the nausea gets bad (hers, not yours) you may want to try something sour. My wife kept lemon drops to settle her stomach during her 3-month bout of morning sickness.
Luck and health.

Congratulations Erik!

We're expecting our first in about 9 DAYS!

Gone are the days when I have my pistols, rounds, and all my accessories laying around here and there. But that's allright, I can't wait.

I can't believe all the doomsayers posting here :)

It's the greatest gift any man can have.

The first time that little hand burrows into yours, and a tiny voice says, "I wuv you, Daddy" -- mate, you're gone a million from then on! :D

I'll never forget the birth of my second daughter (I wasn't there for the first) -- and every day since then has been precious.

All the best.

Bruce

Congratulations! There is nothing in this world that can prepare you for the joy that will be in your heart will that little person comes into your life and that joy will continue to grow as the little one starts progressing in life ... sitting up, crawling, standing, walking, calling your "dada" or "papa" (or whatever) but also remember this ... the more they move, they more you are going to worry. In the beginning you are going to worry about them turning over and suffocating. Then when they start walking, your going to worry about them falling or disappearing when you turn your back on them. Then when they start driving -- well, you get the picture ... the more they move, the more you'll worry.

On a practical note, stock up on a LOT of sleep now. The first week or two, you will not sleep at all except for an hour nap here or there. A few other things to consider is getting one of those mini fridges and putting them in your bedroom. Even if your wife plans to breast feed, there may be times when the baby will prefer the bottle (even if it is your wife's own milk that she pumped earlier) -- for either reason ... either formula or breat milk, chances are you will need to store the milk/formula in a fridge. Have one in your bedroom otherwise you might find yourself flying down a flight of stairs as you make your way to the kitchen in the middle of the night after not getting any sleep for several days.

Your life will forever be changed -- for the better. Enjoy your free time & sleep now and enjoy your new baby later. Warm regards, FUD.
