expansion out of 3' barrel

will i get adequate/consistent expansion from a factory loaded 125 grain jhp, from a factory new 3' gp100?

depends on the load (i.e. 38 special, 38+, or 357 magnum) and the bullet (Gold Dot, Golden Saber, etc.)

I say, yes, with full power .357 magnum 125 gr. JHP's.

I just read a test about .38 special 125 grainers from a 2" barrel. They were +P loads. In this, two that had good expansion and penetration were the Winchester 130 gr. SXT, and the Speer Gold Dot 125 gr.

I think friction would slow it below expansion levels out of a 3' barrel. but out of a 3" barrel, better than a 2" not as good as most 4"

Probably would get decent expansion, but I tend to be one of the 158 gr LSWC crowd. A nice large meplat heavy bullet.
