Everytime there's a shooting on TV my wife goes into this anti gun trip.

Does she forget I have a good number of guns? Does she forget I am very progun and proud of it? Does she forget she enjoys going to the shooting range with me?

After her rant, I have to calm her down and reexplain to her the need for guns.

I can't believe the power the media has over individuals.

I can't watch the news anymore. Think I'll shoot my TV.

Sorry about that rant

Well, what ever you do, do NOT shoot your wife!

You'll NEVER hear the end of it if you do! :)

Beware the man with the S&W .357 Mag.
Chances are he knows how to use it.

Akira, your wife needs to get it through her head that TV!=reality, (especially) including so-called "reality" shows.

Getting rid of the cursed box was the best thing I ever did to preserve my remaining sanity. Try unplugging it for a week and keeping it out of sight, like in a closet or the garage. After the initial adjustment, you may wonder why you ever had it.

Well... except for renting movies. :)

You don't have to shoot the TV. Just be more selective in what you watch.
I stopped watching network news after Columbine. Then I stopped watching the morning shows like Today and programs like 60 Minutes and 48 Hours. I also canceled subscriptions to a couple of news magazines.
I don't miss any of it.
Just like I don't miss migraine headaches and hypertension.

Excellent advice! ;)

That's when having a girlfiend who has a TV comes in handy. Well, I guess in your case, that would NOT be excellent advice! :D

Yeah, that one's situational. ;)

However, I must disagree with Karanas: shooting TVs is loads (heh) of fun. :D

I agree with Karanas.

I nver watch the news on TV anymore. I try to read it off of the internet, but even some of the sources there are questionable.

As for News Magazine programs, I have never watched them. They are total crap.

Coinneach, I couldn't give up the History Channel, TLC or Discovery Channel... I'm addicted. Eventhough I can't bring myself to get rid of it, I do agree that life is better without TV.

You actually live your life instead of watching it go by.

Thanks to all for listening to my rant.

I'll take your advice and not shoot the wife. hehe :)

Really thinking about selling the TV. hhhmmmm
(seriously thinking) I can get a couple of guns if I sold that thing.

Anyone wanna buy a Sony window to the hypacritcal media controled world viewed by a 36 inch tube flat screen TV with a ton of features.

I third the ditch the TV move. More than enough good books to read and internet sites to surf. Stop having your time and mind wasted. Play some checkers, cribbage, or invite friends over for bridge or spades.

Get a copy of JPFO's "do gun laws stop crime" and keep it handy. When she goes on a rant make her read it. If this continues, buy a dog. It's cheaper than a wife and in your case maybe more loyal. Forget that, take her shooting. My wife's a killer and I know my back is covered!

Thankfully, my wife is pro-gun, especially her .22, .38 (2) Smith & Klinton revolvers, and her Bill "No One Needs Hi Cap Mags" Ruger .357 revolvers.

When she sees the violent criminals on teeeveeee news reports, she says, "I'm against the electric chair! Bring on the electric bleachers!"

Regarding TV news, I quote Garrison Keillor, who said: <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>"If you get all your information from local TV news, you end up knowing less than if you just stayed home on the couch and drank gin from the bottle."[/quote]

I don't watch local TV news. Haven't for years. Don't miss it. Don't watch much national TV news, and find my self watching less, and don't miss it, either.

All true about TV, I think the only windows to the world in my house will be the windows I have on the house.

I don't watch network crap for two important reasons. The shows are mostly stupid, and the commercials insult my intelligence. But I gotta have my movies: The Duke, Bond, et al.

Now, Jay Baker, I like the way your wife thinks - electric bleachers!!!!ROTFLMAO
