"everyday" holster... double stitched, a little blue dye, & some sandpaper...

almost have the color down... going after a denim color holster heavy duty enough for everyday use...

I'm not really a blue leather kinda guy, but I think a little more scuffin with the sandpaper for aging, & I'll have color that matches my blue jeans...

could ya wear a denim colored holster for everyday use ???

Hey Mag Man, I don't post on here a lot but read regularly. I've been watching your holster threads. I make my own holsters also.
I have to say the blue don't do much for me but to each his on. I do believe one of my daughters would think that is really cool. She loves everything blue.
Keep up the good work.

thanks for the comments guys... like I said, I'm not really a blue leather kinda guy myself, but wanted to expiriment with how close I could get to blue jean color... I much prefer browns & black to the vivid colors... but at $4.00 for a bottle of dye, & a small scrap of leather & very little time... it was interesting to play with... I'll try to post a pic later, when I think I have it as close as I can get to "denim"

LOL! I attempted a denim-colored holster for my brother once. >link< It did come out a little bright, but the jeans he was wearing in the pics were a little on the dark side, in all fairness. I've completely given up on the 'camouflaged' holster idea. If people will wear them in bright colors, that's how I usually like to make them. Hence, I love making CCW leather for women. :D

the middle picture on your link looks pretty close... I bought both medium & dark blue... I have medium blue on, in the pic, but plan to add some dark & rescuff

the gun in the holster is one of my favorites... a 100+ year old 38 S&W spur trigger single action top break snubbie... the finish ( cosmeticly ) is pretty ugly, but the gun is not pitted, & it functions perfectly... If I continue to carry it regularly, I may send it out for a high end refinish, either in master blue, or nickel... undecided yet...

Can't say the blue is to my tastes either. At least it isn't pink.
But, kudos to those who make things to suit their own needs.
I have made a holster to suit my needs for my Ruger Super Single-Six when none on the market met my requirements.
