Hi I'm Canuck84 a completely inexperienced shooter from the great white north. The only Weapons's I've shot are a single shot .22, a remington 870 shotgun and a Glock 17 (I think) handgun. I enjoyed it a lot and my friend said I had good acuracy for the first time.
I soon will be doing my basic training with the canadian forces and I will be armed with a C7A1 assault rifle. It apperently is a version of a M14something or a M16someting. This may be the wrong forum for this question.......

I know they will teach me everything about it there, but I was wondering if anyone has tried these out before and If so what tips/advice do you have. I know a automatic will be a hellofa lot different then what I have tried or seen. It always helps to be prepared right? 8-) Thanks in advance.

The C7A1 is the M16A2 with a flat-top receiver and full-auto capability rather than 3-shot burst.

Caliber is 5.56 NATO(.223 Rem.)

Recoil is mild; report is not.

Be sure not to hit the buttstock against a hard surface with the bolt back, you may inadvertantly chamber a round.

Hi Canuck84! The disciples of the evil black rifle hang out at http://www.ar15.com The M16 AKA AR15,C7 is a very easy rifle to shoot well. You should have no problem with it. I did a little bit of training with the Canadian army in 1980 and I thought that they were very professional. Have fun and let us know how it works out.
