European choke number conversions?

I have a BRNO 501 O/U with 17.4 and 17.8 choke designations. How do I convert them to our classifications?
Thx,
mac:confused:

This is a metric designation. It is in millimeters and tenths of a mm., thus you have a 17.4 mm restriction and a 17.8 mm restriction. I'm not sure of the conversion from metric to English units offhand though.

To make any sense of it you need to know your actual barrel dimensions. Most European guns have an internal dimension of 18.5mm so this would make your gun a tight modified and full.

Ouch on mod and full. Gun was labeled with a 3x5 card saying mod and imp. cyl. The numbers I referenced actually are separated by a circle with a slash through it versus the "." I listed.
I will dig out my micrometer to check out actual choke dimensions.
Thanks,
mac
