Especially For S&W 4*** Semiauto Fans

I love the S&W 4*** autos.
Yeah, they're on the heavy side but the craftsmanship and reliability are top-notch. I don't see that kind of quality in the internals much in new production guns. They can be had at good prices these days if you keep your eye out for them... A super value IMO.

Here's a couple pics of my excellent condition 4046 recently bought from a local guy who needed some cash. My advice; If you don't have a S&W 4*** but are considering one, now's a good time to be looking. They're a pleasure to shoot (and look at too). Anyone who feels to post their 4*** pics here... please do!

Here Is My 4003

My 4003 is totally reliable and a beauty. I recently purchased a 4506 that I also like a lot.

Here's mine. Got it for a steal a few years back.

I prefer my 10** series guns. I have a few of those as well.

I've never been much of a fan of Smith & Wesson semi-autos...

Except the 4506 (and the 3903/6).

From the day S&W announced the 645 I wanted one. A couple of years ago I snagged a well used 4506-1, marked HPD, and which I think came from the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, police department. They used S&W 45s for quite a few years, but have moved on to Sig .45s.

I've not had it out to the range much, but so far it's been 100% reliable with a mix of factory and handloads, and is just a pleasure to shoot.

How is the parts availability for these? I have always been enamored by the S&W gen 3 autos, but would be apprehensive to shoot them alot in case of parts breakages.

Great guns but they are bulky & weigh a TON. I decided to use this to my advantage and have adopted a 4506 as my nightstand gun, it can double as a stainless steel blunt force weapon if I jam or run dry

All that steel makes it a pussycat to shoot too

Lovely guns. I really need to grab some Smiths before the used market price-spikes.

Will the price spike, maybe, hasn't happened yet!!

I think they are great firearms, expensive for the day they were available as new.

I love the two I have and they are not for sale at todays prices.
