Part of liking a gun is liking the way it feels. This might make you shoot better, too.

What handguns feel the best to you?

My nominations are Colt SAA and clones, 1911s (especially with stipled frontstraps and flat mainspring housings), and J frame roundbutts with a Tyler grip adapter. Another good one is the Sig P225.

I'ld add the Browning High Power and CZ75 to that list. I prefer my 1911 with an arched mainspring housing.

I think the Glock 23 just fits my hand perfectly, and feels balanced. I picked up one of the new Steyr polymer pistols and it really had a fit and balance to it. The barrel on the Steyr is very low, which will place it much closer in line with the shooter's arm. That should reduce muzzle rise and improve controlability. If it hadn't been for some complaints about the triggers on the initial run of those pistols, I might have bought one. I understand the trigger problem is solved now, so, ya never know, next time I have 5C to spend..... :)

Just for me? Okay...

Good ones -

Glock 19 - Finely balanced, low bore axis, no sharp edges, comfy grip.
BHP - Just wonderful in every way. Balance and trigger reach are spot-on.
CZ75 - Like the BHP, but a bit chunkier. Thin aftermarket grips would probably help.

Bad ones -
1911 - The grip is too thin, and the bore axis is too high. I've never really cared for the feel of a 1911.
Sig 220/226/228 - For some reason, Sigs just feel wrong to me. I can't shoot them well at all. They seem to have more felt recoil than a comparable full-size pistol.

Chris

I like the way the Ruger P-90 with Hogue grips feel. It fits perfectly in my hands.

I'm old and deceitful.

For me the best fit and ergomnomics are

1st place: HK USP Tactical
2nd place: Glock 21 (old style with no finger grooves)
3rd place: HK P7M8
4th place: Anything else

I have shorter than normal fingers so my choices are:

1. 1911 with flat MSH and short reach trigger
2. BHP
3. Colt SAA
4. *&* J frame with boot grip
