EOTech Sight 553 on a SW&WM&P15T

EOTech

Not sure my post went through. I looked at a 552 and was impressed. How is the 553 different and do you think it is still useful out to 300 or 400 yds.? I'm also considering the new ACOG TA33. Did you evaluate that by chance?

How they differ.

The 552 uses AA 2 1.5 volt or lithium AA batteries. waterproof submersible to 33 feet. weight 11.5 oz. battery life 1000 continuous (lithium) at normal settings.

The 553 (Police and Military unit) uses 2 N type 123a lithium batteries. waterproof submersible to 66 feet. weight 12.3oz. battery life 1000 continuous 1100 hours normal settings. You get a strong aircraft grade upper housing of added protection.

They say both units are usable up 300 meters I really feel their best use is for quick combat with multi targets.

As for the ACOG TA33 I think it's a great sight being battery free it might be my next buy for targets farther out and not just close combat type shooting.

Right now the 553 fits my needs because most likely my problems will be close up and in my face so to speak.:)

The 553 doesn't use N batteries...
It uses the lithium 123A's...the same as the Surefires lights. And it sits higher on the rail.
I believe the 511 uses the smaller, N size alkaline batteries...
