Having seen Thunder Ranch go lead free for handgun and urban training
been thinking about recycling at my local club both simple and hard items and how to overcome oldschool resistance.
We generate a large amount of paper waste both targets and ammo boxes
Plastic bottles and plastic round holders.
Most shotgun fired shells go into trash
Most brass on concrete surfaces is swept up and recycled but anything on dirt is either trodden or rained into the ground
Lastly the pistol ranges absorb a huge amount of lead. Indoor recovery is easy but shot into dirt berms they really would need to be sifted but that might require hazmat working conditions due to the lead dust exposure
I'd be v grateful to hear accounts of how other folks have addressed these
issues effectively.
Some ranges have been attacked for noise and then closed for environmental contamination and i'd like to get ahead of those problems by establishing a postive record
many thanks for your constructive thoughts and experiences
