Prior to the election, those who actually think knew that the R's were going to get spanked. This forum was filled with any number of scathing threads. Each in it's own way, repudiating the R's (and Bush & Company) for what they have done and what they failed to do.
Now, just 4 days after the election, just about all we see are Doom and Gloom - The Sky Is Falling, threads. They are littering this forum.
Get over it folks. The Dems have a bare majority. They will have the fight of their lives to get anything accomplished. They do not have the numbers to overturn any Presidential veto. I believe the years of signing whatever comes across Bush's desk are over.
Further, the Dems won't have any real power unless they can capture the Presidency in '08 and make better inroads in both houses at the same time. They will have to be very careful in what they do in the next two years. They have the barest of a majority and anything that riles the electorate will harm them. They know this.
Whatever else we may think about politicians in general, know that they are intelligent. Despite the media hype (and those here on this forum), the real leaders of both parties "get it."
At this time, I think I need to go out to my shed and sharpen up my scythe. It's past time to begin pruning these rants and return L&P to its core:
Round table discussions range from the Bill of Rights, to concealed carry, to general political issues.
General Political Issues does not mean endless threads all ranting upon the same miserable idea.
Enough is enough, folks.
