Enlarging a Gen 3 Glock Mag Release?

I like the larger mag release button on the Gen 4 Glock's, but let's say I found a really good deal for a Gen 3 Glock and couldn't pass on it. If I lengthened the slot that the mag release goes in, does that mean I could replace the Gen 3 release with a Gen 4?

You can buy a longer release for the 3rd gen. It may be "competition" add-on, but my Glock 19 had one installed. I think it was OEM.

So perhaps have a quick hunt online.

Yes, it's easy to do. Makes an ugly gun because of the opposite side in my opinion, probably why you don't see it done too often, but it works fine. Most practical way to get a Glock with the mag release you want is to buy a gun that already has it, even if you have to save up a few days more to cover the extra couple of dollars.

Pics on this thread from a guy who did it 4 or 5 years ago.

a less permanent solution would be to buy an aftermarket mag release like the zev that has an extended tab that screws on
