Engraved Baby Browning

Meh, I've never cared much for engraved firearms. There just comes a point when dressing up a firearm goes too far and it takes away from the guns natural beauty, like slathering makeup and piling jewellery on an already gorgeous woman. For me, engraving crosses that line.

I've no dog in the fight, and while I do like a nicely don't engraved firearm, that sold price made my eyes water just a bit.

Bill - I know your eye is a bit better trained than the rest of us, but what made this poorly done? I noticed some uneven areas, and frankly, it's way too damn busy, but I curious, what are some of the poorly done areas?

I'd consider you a bit of an expert so just trying to learn a bit here.

The scrolls are crooked and indistinct.
The design is very crude. There are no borders, and the background is crudely punched or buzzed in with an electric engraving pencil.
Look at the difference in the picture I posted.

Thanks Bill. Certainly the scrolls are angled and the background looks like hell with punched in dots.

Appreciate the education.

that sold for an awful lot of money considering it was once a nice gun that fell under the hands of a kitchen table bubba and a vibro etcher.
