English is City's Offical Language (and this is news?)

Not sure on the English but this is gun related.
We were in a dept. store in Oregon a few months back. A nice looking young guy ( Hispanic) was being turned down on buying a gun. Reason was he had not been in the country long enough. Had a green card, ID etc. Sorry I cannot remember if he needed to be here 90 days or 6 months to buy. We overheard he needed 30 more days here to buy.
It surprised both of us that a non-citizen can purchase firearms.
I am not making judgments here but not so sure I favor such sales either.

Good for them. I have family and friends all over the DFW area (well more D than FW), and they are all absolutely fed up with the situation.

Mark my words, if Farmers Branch is successfully able to defend themselves against the lawsuits they know are coming, cities all over the nation are going to start doing the same thing.

A Green Card holder can purchase firearms and get a CCW in most states that offer one. Green Card holders are not illegal immigrants, and should not be equated with such.

I was able to legally buy and carry a gun before I became a citizen. In order to get Permanent Resident status, I had to be background-checked, fingerprinted three times (including one set for the FBI), provide proof of financial independence, be checked for AIDS and contagious diseases, and sit through many interviews. With that kind of screening, it makes no sense to deny Green Card holders the right to self-defense. Crooks don't check your passport before they mug you.
