English Flints

I just happen across a Traditions Flintlock PLR. After a thorough cleaning and oiling it looks in good LN condition. Flints are in bad shape though. Mfg suggests 5/8" flints and, from what I've read English Chert Flints are suggested.
Any suggestions/advice as I venture from percussion to flint?
Thanks...e

English flints are about as good as they get...

and are readily available. Most of them are knapped by a gentleman named Tom Fuller. They can be had either through October Country (www.octobercountry.com) or Track of the Wolf (www.trackofthewolf.com). If you haven't been to these sites, and you are a dedicated muzzleloader shooter, you really need to go take a look. Track has a VERY impressive website that will simply amaze you. Take the time to look through all of the departments. It is well worth it.
