Enfields

Can somebody fill me in on all the different Enfield variants? The more I read about this rifle the more I want one, despite being a lefty. But it's confusing with the No. 1, No 4, Mk I, Mk 2, etc. Then there's the Indian Ishapore variants, and the Gibbs Rifle No. 7 ".308 Jungle Carbine" which was never a real service rifle but seems cool nonetheless.

there is a guy localaly that has written 2 books on the Enfield, can't remember the name of the books but his name is Skip Stratton, I've had a chance to talk to him and he seems to know his stuff.. from what I understand his books are now considered standard references on Enfields...

Hey Nightcrawler,

I'm not sure on this one but I think the No. 7 in .308 was used experimentally by Australia. So I'm pretty sure it WAS used as a service rifle at some point
