The newest addition to my gun safe is an Enfield Jungle Carbine which I picked up for $250 at the Greensburg, Pa. gun show this past Saturday. From the research I have been able to do so far, it seems that my new rifle is an original JC in .303 British and not a replica.
Here are the markings;
on left side of receiver "No. 5 mk.1"
on ring around stock grip "1945
England
BD97XX
After some cleaning with MP7, the bore looks new and shiny, and everything seems to be in good shape.
My question is whether to refinish the stock. It shows the darkening with age you would expect, and is the stock overall looks good.
Is disassembling the stock tricky on these rifles ? What would be the best finish to use if I do finish.
Thanks in advance for the input
