Are these good rifles ? They're Ishapurs right ? A local store has them on sale in "good" condition for about $80. I've been waiting on a No.4 MK II but haven't had any luck finding one I can inspect. I might end up getting one of these instead. Should I buy or should I wait ?

Yes and yes, with a caveat. Check through as many as you can to get the smoothest action, best trigger, best bore etc. They`re made from good materials but QC wasn`t as good as the British built Enfields and a lot of the surplus ones are pretty beat. If you really like em you would probably be better off spending twice as much for an arsenal refinished one from Gibbs Rifles. Marcus

There seems to be a general feeling that Ishapore owners should stick to mil spec 7.62 NATO ammo, and avoid commercial .308 Winchester, which runs higher pressures.
