Enfield Jungle Carbine - Help

Have a Jungle Carbine I bought back in the 1960`s for , as I recall,$50.00, that is in perfect shape.Fired it a few times and its been a wall hanger since then.

The rifle club I belong to is scheduling a " Military Fun Shoot " for October and I have decided to participate. The help I need is identification of the correct sling to get for it and where I might get one. I assume regular issue was leather with double steel "frogs" but not sure. Also would like to know identification of the correct bayonet for the rifle and where I might find one. Thank you in advance : Buckley, ME

.

AFAIK, The proper sling is the standard Pattern 1908 web/canvas sling, the other was the same sling made of a rubberized green material that didn't rot or deteriorate in jungle conditions.

The No. 5 used its own bayonet, and they are expensive and hard to find - but repros are available: http://www.gunpartscorp.com/ad/176170.htm

with those shoots normally repro or as issued are not a requirement. any old web or leather sling should do and I doubt they'll be pitting you against each other with bayonets.

Jungle Carbine Thanks You

Terrific response.Thank you all for your comments and photos of the correct sling and bayonet for my Jungle Carbine. Ordered an original used sling from Numrich last night . Held off on ordering the repro bayonet for now; but know where to get one thanks to you. Sincerely : Buckley , ME

In 1962, Ardelle, of Bill and Ard's Sporting good store said to me that "Jungle Carbines" commanded a good deal more money. She had one for sale on her bargain rack in front of the counter.

Over the last 51 years, I wonder how many arsenal and back yard conversions there have been in reaction to that demand.
