A couple of months ago I did a photograph of a gun (my Kimber stainless) for billboards and bus signs for Operation Ceasefire, Wisconsin's equivalent of Project Exile.
I was invited to receive a plaque for my efforts at a ceremony today to launch the program. Our very anti mayor was there (it's re-election time) to make a speech, as was our anti district attorney and a host of other anti MPD brass. Probably the only remotely pro-RKBA person there was the head of our local BATF office.
As I stood in this photo-op, I was reminded of the words of the Chief Dan George's character in "The Outlaw Josey Wales," in which he told the story of meeting with government officials and being told to "endeavor to persevere." The newspapers, he said, reported that "indians vow to endeavor to persevere." "We thought about that," the chief said, "endeavor to persevere...and when we had thought about it long enough, we declared war."
I sure hope I wasn't endeavoring to persevere
today.
