about how many rounds before end shake starts showing up and how to fix it? i have a service six, i bought it from a guy who's uncle used it as a duty weapon. he said that he would estimate about 5000 rds have been through it. it is tight on lockup with no problems, just thought i would ask in case it happen's to me. I am keeping this gun and will be handing it down to my son. i'm not putting much through it, i shoot every few weeks mabe 20rds or so. thanks

I think you worry far, far, FAR too much about the fine revolver you've got. Your pseudonym here being old fart, I'm willing to bet that if you are even as old as I am, you will never live to see the functional end of life of that well-built piece of hardware.

I would like to see you do one or both of these things, just for YOUR own well being:

1) Stop worrying about your Security Six

2) Go out and buy an old H&R or Rossi for around $200, because -THAT- is a gun that you may very well wreck... or better yet, it'll be half trashed before you even bring it home, and then we'll actually have a focus for your worries!

Please take this post in the spirit it was intended, and not as an insult. The revolver you have is extremely durable.

For us normal folks, who don't shoot our guns to the edge of destruction, it's hard for a revolver to acquire end shake if it didn't come that way from the factory.

thanks everyone, i guess i like to plan ahead. i do know rossi revolvers tho, my friend who has the security six that his son messed up made that mistake. our local shop was selling brand new rossi snub nose stainles a few weeks ago for $300 they had $400 on the security six. he bought the rossi against what i told him of the ruger being the better gun. the lockup was awfull and it shaved and spit bullet fragments. he took it back and they gave him 2 options send it in free or trade it in at $250 credit. he took the credit and got the security six. after shooting he said it was worth $50 to learn him the difference in quality.

my lockup is nearly unmovable and back and forth play is unmovable, it won't budge back and forth. the cylinder even at rest is real tight. but if i release it, it spins straight and true. i guess i like planning ahead but on some things it's not necessary. thanks

i took my service six apart when i got it to clean it, the cylinder snaps onto those 2 bearings on the crane and once on them won't move back and forth. i just wonder how end shake could happen with this type of setup. not worrying just wondering, thanks.
