End of the Colt Python

Does anyone know the approximate date that Colt ceased production of the Python? I have read, that some assembly of the Python, in the "custom shop", continued after the cessation of production. The date I am seeking is the date the last regularly scheduled "production gun" was produced.

Dfariswheel, are you out there?

The last Custom Shop special order Pythons reportedly stopped in 2004.
There was ONE Python built in 2005 and it was a profusely engraved and inlaid show model to commemorate the 1955-2005 production of the Python.

The (true) Python will never be back. Meticulous hand crafting by machinists and assemblymen who took pride in their work and "Made In America."

That's gone forever. That's why there are precious few pistolsmiths who can even work on the Python. They're not old school. They can't even understand the internals of the Snake.

Even the Anaconda was nothing like the Python.
