Encore went T.U.

Well, a few weeks before deer season, and my Encore decided to go tits up. The darn thing will not cock. Tried everything I know, (prayer, swear, change barrels, throw tantrum, thorough cleaning, scream like a little girl, check trigger overtravel screw). No joy. I now have a choice of sending back to T/C, in which case I will never have it back in time for deer, bringing to my local gunsmith (really, really good) and paying for the work, (get it back in a week or so) or trying to fix it myself.
Can anyone give me a hint as to where to look for the problem? Or, should I just bite the bullet and let my gunsmith handle the problem?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

If you're the kind of guy who hasn't already taken the thing apart - take it to the smith or buy another rilfe for this season.

To tell the truth, I have never even thought about taking the thing apart. It came with a decent trigger, and I had no reason to screw with it.
But, I guess you may be sort of right. Looks like I will have to fall back on one of my other 17 hunting guns for this season. I wanted to use the Encore, because it has my new 10" .454 Casull barrel on it. Looks like I'll have to save the Casull for Boar this coming spring. Probably revert to the Hawken for deer.
Still, I would like to get the thing repaired in time for the season. My 'smith can do the job in time, so I'll run it in on Monday.
Thanks for the reply

Thanks

Thanks for the replys guys. Gunsmith (John Blauvelt) has it. I should have it back by the end of the month. He has worked on my stuff before, and is, in my opinion, one of the best.
Thanks again
