Hey!
I saw a empire cresent model 60 shotgun. It is made in the early 1900s non damacus barrels. It's in a little rough shape but does anyone have any info on these? Are these made to be shooters or more shoot every once in awhile? I read a lot of info online already but can't find anyone that can talk about the quality of these shotguns. I'm probably paying more than what it is worth but I am into c&r shotguns and rifles. BTW I am going to pay $150 probably for it. Thanks! BTW it is hamerless and look like empire/cresent was a sears/hardware brand when it was out.

Crescent was a major maker of cheap shotguns. They used a variety of names on them, including Empire.

Not for heavy use. The action parts are soft and wear fast.

As with ALL older guns, a checkout by a qualified smith is cheap insurance.

It's mandatory at Casa McC.

If I had an old non twist/Damascus barreled Crescent that I wanted to shoot, I'd use light lead loads and keep the round count down.

I have fired a 20 gauge Crescent double that looked brand new, but had been in one family for 80 years. It was a nice handling gun and I wouldn't have minded owning it.

Most are in sad shape. Decades of neglect and storage in barns, corn cribs, etc, do that.

Good luck....
