elevation low on LC9s

While in general I really like the way the LC9s handles and shoots--The elevation which is not adjustable makes the gun shoot way low unless I cover the target with the front post. Does anyone know if a lower replacement is available?

Guns designed for self defense use, rather than target shooting, are generally sighted like yours.
According to many respected firearms instructors, it's more effective for the intended usage.
If you're used to having the six o'clock hold type of sights, it just takes a little getting used to.
A smaller replacement sight might be hard to pickup quickly.
Adapting to the gun is always easier than changing the gun to suit the shooter.
Just a thought.

I've thought about that--and I must say--for a rapid-fire DA to get shots in quick where they need to go at 15 yds or less--this gun is a great carry weapon. I guess it's just a natural tendency--especially when developing hand loads--to want to get some kind of enhanced site accuracy.

I personally if I am comfortable with my sight picture and confident in using it I would make the gun fit me. That way you won't be maintain two habits when one is probably better than the other. Keep the good habit you have and adjust the gun to your specific needs if possible. That's just my opinion and at 60 years old it's hard for me to learn ne tricks.

Have you tried different ammo in different weight? Mine is perfectly regulated to 115 gr and works extremely well with Hornady Critical Defense.

Using mostly bulk winnie and remmie stuff--but in 115 gr. Could it make that much of a difference?

I changed my LC9S factory sights to DuraGlo tritium sights (larger dots for sight picture, and use a LaserMax light for my CCW. I changed from Hornady Critical Defense to "Critical Duty" that improved the penetration through glass and/or bone before opening. It is a sweet concealed carry.

I practice my shooting at the indoor range at 10 yards, a typical attack is closer than 15 yards....under typical tunnel vision during an attack, you will miss more than half your rounds at 15 yards.

Of course it can--but could it make a 10" difference at 15 yds or less using relatively similar ammo?

Yes. At short ranges, handgun ammo can make a difference. A slower round exits the barrel later giving more time for the muzzle to flip up - thus raising POI.
