Electronic Voting Today

I went to vote this morning in my precinct's polling place. We didnt have any problem with electronic voting machines  Because we only had one and it was broken and wouldnt work, so we voted using paper ballots. :D

So what about your experiences with electronic voting. Anything strange, unusual or did everything work 100%?

In my Voting Center we had ten electronic machines, only one of which was "working". Election officials were having everbody vote on provisional paper ballots which were getting in short supply, glad I vote early.

I'm trying to decide which is the better description; FUBAR or Cluster Puck

We voted early. Last Week. Signup was out in the hall of the Courthouse here in Comanche County, TX. There were two voting machines there but
apparently no one had chosen to use them as they were not yet set up so we went paper ballot, too. I have used them and do trust them but I suppose most people do not.

There were about a dozen electronic machines at my polling place. All were working when I was there. Voters seemed to be experiencing minimal difficulties.

Used electronic voting here. This was the third time I voted in the Virginia area, and the machines seemed to be working well.

Seems to me your electronic voting machines are a solution to a problem that didn't exist but does now!

Surely to god if your neighbours to the north can run an election and know the results within hours the most powerful nation in the world ought to be able manage the same thing. Mark X, count the x's. Doesn't really get more difficult than that. Just isn't rocket science I don't think.

The place where I voted had an optical scanner/ballot to count the ballots as they were put into the box. So by the time voting ends if it is working the totals shoud be available.

No problem with the one I used

very simple to operate. The only 'thing' I saw was that they said I only had three minutes to vote and to read the several state ammendments that were up before hand. I had already been told which way to vote by my wife, so that wasn't a problem.

Generally in my polling place in Fairfax, Virginia, I've had a good experience with the electronic machines.

I wish I could say that I have equally good feelings about voting on them.

During the presidential election in 2004 they did have two machines down when I voted in the morning. I found out later that they refused to boot and no votes were recorded on them. Replacement machines were brought in later in the morning, but I don't know how much it would have helped, the lines were pretty damned nasty.

We've been using touchscreen machines and I haven't seen any problems.

The trouble is I have to stand in line to show my ID and wait while a worker thumbs through a massive book of computer printouts looking for my name. IOW, they still haven't eliminated all of the paper and the fumbling.
