saw electra glide in blue today with robert blake in it,, horrible movie, but an interesting gun, it looked like a four inch python that had the barrel and underlug hard chromed, while the frame was blued,, was this a limited edition production? or was it just fancy schmancy custom work done up for the flick? also some real unsafe gun handling in the movie (which i didn't finish watching btw)

pretty cool lookin though aint it? i would lave to have a python, but they $$$$$ me $ so nope

S&W has made up what are called "Pinto" guns. These have blued frames and nickeled barrels and cylinders, or vise-versa. I don't think I have ever heard of Colt doing this.

In Defense of Old Movies

O.K., the film is 28 years old and the "hippies" vs. the "mean Policeman" scenario seems dated, but, were you around in '74? I was, and I rode a Blue Electraglide. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and even "Easy Rider" seems a little silly these days, but, wow, to some of us over-50 folks, this was cutting edge in it's time. Of course, we had to listen to the Beatles, Santana, Johnny Winter, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and the Doors...Brittany and The Backstreet Boys weren't even born yet.
Thank God I grew-up when I did!

Yep, made for the movie. I have a 4" pristine blue Python I`ve thought about doing the same too but it`s on the list of "might do' things.

Oh yeah, look again. I missed it on the first post. The cylinder was chrome/nickle also.

hey han, i love that music, it is what i listen to, easy rider was a pretty good flick except for the very end trip out scenes, and no doubt the motorcyle and gun were cool, but the movie and the short oke things, and the stereotypes were a little much for me--why would anyone had chrome just the barrel though? what would be the reasoning behind this? being that mr wintergreen was a special forces vet (or something to that effect) what would be the reasoning?

I just was REALLY into Harley's in the 70's and still think the film is one of those flawed gems. Regarding the chromed barrel...who knows? ...don't have a clue. You gotta admit that Blake's character's tall blonde girlfriend wasn't too bad. I hated the ending {similar to "Easy Rider"}. The interestingly titled TV show, "Beretta," was also one of my faves. Too bad Robert Blake is ending his career with the stench of the "marriage gone bad",
not to mention, possible murder of said spouse. "You can take 'dat to 'da bank."
