ejercito argentino mod 1927

i just purchased this handgun from a private party and am trying to find out more about it , when it was made, where it was made, and what it is worth now. any info would be helpful..
the right side of the slide reads "EJERCITO ARFENTINO sist.colt cal. 11.25 mm mod.1927" and on the left side of the slide it reads "D.G.F.M.-(F.M.A.P.)"
and it has a serial number 39xxx stamped on the barrel, slide,and frame.
any info (specificly the year made) would be greatly appreciated.

It is an Argentine Model 1927 pistol, made in Argentina for military service under license from Colt. It was made in 1948. It is an exact copy of the Colt Government Model (commercial model) of the late 1920's. The caliber is .45 ACP, the same as the U.S. Model 1911 service pistol. Ammunition is common and easily purchased.

The markings are:

Ejercito Argentino - Argentine Army

Sist[ema] Colt - Colt System

11.25 mm - metric designation for the .45 ACP

D.G.F.M. - Direccion General de Fabricaciones Militares (literally "General Directorate of Military Fabrications"; freely translated "Military Manufacturing Agency")

F.M.A.P. - Fabrica Militar de Armas Portatiles (Military Small Arms Factory) in Rosario, Argentina

Quite a few of those guns have been recently imported and more are expected, so prices can vary depending on the market availability. In top condition with all the original blue-black finish, value can go over $750; in average condition with a goodly amount of blue, around $450-500. Parkerized, reblued or badly worn will bring less.

Here is all the info you need concerning Sistemas.

The Sistemas brought in by Lipsey's this summer were sub-standard. Very rough. This has led many to believe we have seen the Sistema flow run out.

Lipsey's was selling theirs for $289. Clarks has two of the Lipsey Sistemas they are trying to get rid of for $365. Good, rearsenaled Sistemas sell for $400 or so. Finding an original blue Sistema would be unusual.
