Ejection

I have a Charles Daly 20 gauge semi auto and know when I shoot the shotgun the shells get ejected they fly 7-10 yards away. Any suggestions as to what the problem may be?

Don't understand what the problem is, you don't want the empties to eject or you don't want them to eject too far? If the gun is ejecting the empties, then it is working properly.

I understand that the gun still works. My question is because the gun used to eject the empties next to my feet but now it ejects shells up to 10 yards away and it makes it difficult to find my empties because its not consistent. What causes this and can it be fixed?

In my opinion if your not having any problems with the empties after you fire I would leave it alone. Just buy a shell catcher...simple solution. Good luck!

If this is a gas operated gun, I would clean and inspect the whole gas system.
Something changed to make the fired shells eject that far away.
The bolt is moving too fast rearward and may be beating the reciever inside.

I have not changed anything with the ammo I have run through it. I have not had the time to tear it down yet hopefully it will be a weekend project. I just don't want to damage the gun further if it is messed up. I noticed the problem dove hunting in a cornfield with yellow shells and had to hunt for my empties.
